PMEs are now given better protection and rights under the amended Employment Act and the Industrial Relations Act. The Ministry of Manpower has introduced a legislative framework to allow PMEs earning up to $4500 per month and who are union members to use the tripartite mediation service for claims on the non-payment of salaries, retrenchment benefits and breach of employment contracts by employers.
